چکیده
The field of soft actuators is dominated by elastomers that experience mechanical deformations in response to external stimuli. In this context, magnetic stimuli attract considerable interest because their easy application, tunability, fast response, remote actuation, and safe penetration biological environments. Since very recently, research interests the are being redirected towards hydrogels, which could virtually replace elastomers, overcoming limitations expanding application actuators. actuation hydrogels a nascent full challenges, such as achieving reliable significant responsiveness. Here we demonstrate combination physical polymer hydrogel with dispersed phase consisting clusters particles, results composites exhibit high reversible elongation Our analyses show strongly dependent on matrix elasticity, concentration particle distribution within network nanofibres. strategy for maximization should be catalyst development novel applications composite valve remotely actuated also present here proof-of-concept.

Healable thermoset polymer composite embedded with stimuli-responsive fibres.
Severe wounds in biological systems such as human skin cannot heal themselves, unless they are first stitched together. Healing of macroscopic damage in thermoset polymer composites faces a similar challenge. Stimuli-responsive shape-changing polymeric fibres with outstanding mechanical properties embedded in polymers may be able to close macro-cracks automatically upon stimulation such as heat...

We present the fabrication and characterization of large arrays of inkjet-printed superparamagnetic polymer composite (SPMPC) hemispherical microstructures. SPMPCs are appealing for applications in microsystems and nanorobotics due to the added functionality of polymers and the significant magnetic attributes of embedded nanostructures. SPMPC-based microarchitectures can be used to perform diff...
متن کاملAutonomous microfluidics with stimuli-responsive hydrogels
There has been increasing interest in integrated microfluidic systems because performing biological and chemical laboratory tasks on a single chip is appealing. One straightforward approach to constructing these ‘lab on chips’ is to fabricate individual components and to assemble them for desired functionalities. As the functionalities of the microfluidic systems become increasingly complicated...
متن کاملSelf-assembly with orthogonal-imposed stimuli to impart structure and confer magnetic function to electrodeposited hydrogels.
A magnetic nanocomposite film with the capability of reversibly collecting functionalized magnetic particles was fabricated by simultaneously imposing two orthogonal stimuli (electrical and magnetic). We demonstrate that cathodic codeposition of chitosan and Fe3O4 nanoparticles while simultaneously applying a magnetic field during codeposition can (i) organize structure, (ii) confer magnetic pr...
